Golf is a fairly new sport to Cyprus, with the first courses being popularised during the late 1990s The Cyprus Golf Federation (CGF) was established in the year 2000 with the objective of promoting and managing amateur golf on the island. The four courses open for play are all CFG members. Handicap RulesThe CGF currently adheres to the Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) Unified Handicap scheme. If you have a valid handicap certificate from a CONGU, EGA or USGA affiliated club, then that certificate should be accepted by a Cyprus affiliate of the CGF. If you have no handicap, or no valid handicap certificate, you will need to play for a card as follows:
Golf Courses & ClubsTsada Golf ClubTsada Golf Club (owned by Cyprus Golf Resorts) is near Tsada village, a 20 minute drive north of Paphos
Secret Valley Golf ClubSecret Valley Golf Club (owned by Cyprus Golf Resorts) is at Petra tou Romiou, 18 kilometres east of Paphos.
Aphrodite HillsAphrodite Hills is a golf, hotel and spa resort 20 minutes from Paphos.
Vikla Golf & Country ClubThe Vikla Golf and Country Club is a family-friendly venue near Vikla village, 20 kilometres from Limassol.
Nicosia Golf Club (NGC)The Nicosia Golf Club is an organisation focussed on promoting golf in the Niciosia area. The club does not have a course of it's own, but plays at the Secret Valley Golf Club. Membership of the NGC means that you can get a handicap certificate which will allow play at other courses which insist on a certificate. Limassol Golf Club (LCG)The Limassol Golf Club is for golfers in the Limassol region. The club focuses on providing good course rates for it's members, issuing valid handicaps and arranging tournaments.
