Golf is a fairly new sport to Cyprus, with the first courses being
popularised during the late 1990s
The Cyprus Golf Federation
(CGF) was established in the year 2000 with the objective of promoting and
managing amateur golf on the island. The Federation is a member of the
International Golf Federation (IGF) and the European Golf Association (EGA). The four courses
open for play in Cyprus are all CFG
members.

Handicap Rules
The CGF adheres to the European Golf Association (EGA) handicap system.
If a player has no handicap, or no valid handicap certificate, they will
need to play for a card as follows:
- Provide a minimum of 3 cards of 18 hole rounds played off the white tees
(men) or red tees (ladies)
- 3 Cards must reach a gross score of up to 107 for men and 120 for ladies
- These cards must be signed by a club CGF committee member

Nicosia Golf Club (NGC)
The Nicosia Golf Club is an organisation focussed on promoting golf in the
Niciosia area. The club does not have a course of it's own, but plays at the Secret Valley Golf Club.
Membership in the NGC allows the member to obtain a handicap certificate which
is required for play at other courses.
Limassol Golf Club (LCG)
The Limassol Golf Club is for golfers in the Limassol region. The club focuses
on providing good course rates for it's members, issuing valid handicaps and arranging
tournaments. The comprehensive website has up-to-date news on competitions and
golfing events in Cyprus.
