English is widely spoken in Cyprus and fairly well represented in the local media - radio, television and print. RadioThere are several English-language radio channels, and some Greek ones with regular English-language news. However, there is no dedicated, English-language radio news service. BFBS Radio Cyprus is the British Forces Broadcasting Service, widely broadcast, with all programming in English 24 hours a day. BFBS Radio 1 Cyprus has a full programme of DJ-led music shows. BFBS Radio 2 Cyprus plays more "classic tracks". It also has programming from BBC Radio 4. You can tune in on the following frequencies:
Coast FM: is an independent Limassol-based music radio station on FM and via the Internet streaming live to your computer.
Radio Pafos has an English show weekday evenings between 19:00 and 21:00 (after the Greek news). Live streaming radio available from the website.
BBC World Service is available at 17.64 MHz, 15.57 MHz, 9.410 MHz, 6.195 MHz on SW or 1323KHz on AM CyBC RadioCyBC (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation) is a public broadcaster with three radio channels providing some English-language services. CyBC Second Radio Channel caters to English (and Turkish and Armenian speaking listeners). The English programming involves three daily 10-minute English news bulletins at 13:30, 20:00 and 22:00, a live evening magazine programme from 18:00 with a focus on culture and entertainment and an evening DJ-led show of music and chat until 22:00. Evening programming runs to midnight with music and announcements in Greek and English. Programming is extended in summer, starting earlier in the evening, and incorporates more European languages.
CyBC radio stations 1, 2 and 3 are available via the Internet streaming live to your computer through RealPlayer (see Radio on the Internet, below). Radio on the InternetMany international radio stations are available streamed live on the Internet. You typically need RealPlayer (Real Player Basic, the free version, is rather hidden away on the real.com website, but it does exist) although sometimes a feed is available in Windows Media format, compatible with the players that have shipped with recent versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Local Cyprus Internet newsLintv (Local Internet News) Paphos is the first dedicated Internet news station in Cyprus with news from Paphos. Broadcasts have a focus on local politics, the arts, leisure, business and the environment. Also included are weather forecasts, foreign exchange updates and events listings for Paphos. The news bulletin is available from Monday to Friday from 19:30 (and online 24 hours a day). TelevisionThere is no TV licence fee. The public broadcasting service is financed with a tax included in your electricity bill from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus. CyBC (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation), the public broadcasting service, has two television channels one of which does provide some English programming.
miVision is a service provided by the Cyprus telephone company CYTA whereby you receive TV signals via your regular telephone landline. These these are then converted through a set-top box into signals that can be transmitted by analogue and digital TVs. The service also includes video on demand, depending on which rate you sign up for; you will receive your set-top box when you subscribe. Omega TV: Paphos-based

09:00 and other English-language shows and films throughout the day. BRT-2 (Bayrak Radio Television Corporation): If you live close to the northern part of the island, you may be able to receive a TV signal. BRT-2 shows many older movies and local news in English. Satellite TVMega Channel and Sigma TV are both nationwide commercial broadcasters offering movies, news, serials, comedies, talk shows and sports. Sigma TV offers live TV streaming from the website. This allows you to watch TV live on your computer, although it's only advisable if you are connected to the Internet by broadband. Sigma TV caters specifically to the younger, urban audience in the 18 to 45 age group and broadcasts many locally produced programmes. ANT1
