Cyprus has a generous number of official national holidays over the course of a year - fifteen including Christmas Eve. What's open, what's notIn some countries (notably the UK), public holidays that fall on a weekend are officially replaced by a day off the following Monday, but this is not the case in Cyprus. While most schools, banks and many shops will close on these holidays, emergency services, police and hospitals remain open for business and the names, addresses and telephone numbers of pharmacies open on public holidays are listed in the daily papers.
