Monday 25th September 2007It's off to work we go…A lucky few living life as expatriates don't need income from employment, others have "done their time" in the job market and are free to enjoy retirement, but many people need jobs to pay the bills. Finding work can be one of the most complicated – and at times disheartening – aspects of living life in Cyprus. Finding a jobIf you're an EU citizen you don't need a work permit to work in Cyprus. However, there are many other issues to consider. Take a look at the INFOrmation Pages compiled from the EU's own data on Working in Cyprus which includes information how to make an application and on Cypriot job contracts. Non-EU citizens have a more complicated time and will need to have residency status; you can start by reading up on the requirements for a Residency Permit in Cyprus. If you have been working but have been made redundant and are now unemployed, you can browse The AngloFILE category Employment Agencies & Recruitment for an organisation that may be able to help you get back into the work force. If you have been working but have been retrenched and are now unemployed and looking for a job, you might want to post a message to the Jobs Wanted section of The AngloINFO Forum, and keep a close eye on Jobs Offered category to see if there's anything that suits you.
