Wow you go a speeding ticket! In Cyprus. Had to have been on the motorway. I rarely see any cops and basically drive as I like (just like everyone else)! And let's face it, you can't really expect the cops to know how to spell. My experience with them tells me that most of them struggle to even read. And if you go to court expect to spend an entire day there. The judge won't care that your name is misspelled. The cop will identify you as the speeder and you will have to pay the fine. Let's not forget that the judges work with the cops on a daily basis. The court system in Cyprus isn't like the rest of Europe. They still use logic and if a cop tells the judge you were speeding then he will use his judgement and find you guilty, technicality or not. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and pay the fine.

catmeister212, the airport may accept 100 letter misspelled on an airplane ticket, I couldn't care less. The airports don't take something away from you, they give you something. They let you use your paid service.

I got the speed ticket on the motorway doing 129kmph. In 99% of european countries 130 kmph don't kill anybody on the motorway. However, I am not complaining about this. They should have doubled or trippled the fine like they do with cipriots, not make it 580% more (43 euro to 250 euro). This I assume is the maximum payable limit. Why? Because I am a foreigner? I went to the court first time, in Larnaca even if I am from Nicosia, I signed that I accept the charges and they penalize me maximum amount?

Let them fight this time for the 250 euro. This time the fine was 49 euro. An American lawyer told me that if I plead not guilty the amount of the fine will be the same in the end as If I plead guilty.

If you are saying that the police got your speed wrong, ask them to demonstrate with written proof the last time their radar gun was calibrated.
