Moving Checklist
In order to remain in Cyprus you must, as a European citizen, apply for the appropriate permits and register with the Census Records and Migration Department or with the Aliens and Migration Service. You should contact those bodies for more information and to find out about the procedures and forms.
  • You can contact the Census Records and Migration Department about residence without employment by phoning +357 22 804 430 and email
  • The telephone number of Cyprus Police headquarters is + 357 22 80 80 80.
  • The headquarters number of the Aliens and Migration Service is + 357 22 80 88 46.

As a European citizen living and working in Cyprus in accordance with the lawful procedures you have the same rights as citizens of Cyprus as regards remuneration, conditions of employment, residence and social insurance etc. Your dependants have the same rights.

N.B. The above procedure is expected to be changed shortly for European citizens, who will need to register with the Census Records and Migration Department rather than obtain a residence permit.

It is very important to remember that you must enter Cyprus through a lawful port or airport which is controlled by the Republic of Cyprus and show respect for the situation created by the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974. You can find more information on the website of the Republic.
