Accommodation
When searching for accommodation you can look through the Greek-language and English-language newspapers, including the specialist press. You can also get help from estate agents who specialise in finding real estate for sale and renting.

It is best to compare a number of residences before coming to a decision. The banks give loans with repayment by monthly instalments over 25 or more years. You can find banks through the Central Bank website.

If you buy a residence, the title deed will be given to you when all the permits for the residence have been secured and the procedure has been completed. Before making a final decision you should find out about the procedure from an estate agent and get assurance that the permits for the residence exist. The issue of the title deed for a new residence is often delayed because of construction irregularities which are usually of a minor nature.

In the case of rented accommodation it is usual for two rentals to be paid in advance as security for the owner. If no damage is caused to the property, the money is repaid at the end of the tenancy.

If you come to work in Cyprus, it is a basically a good idea to ask your employer for assistance with finding a residence to buy or rent, because he may know people who can help with the whole procedure.

You can find information about estate agents from the Estate Agent Registration Council by telephoning +357 22 66 63 77 or email.
